Once our gardens are growing, birds can become a real pest. Political sign frames.<\/b><\/p><p align=\"Left\">Right after political elections, those over-abundant yard signs are tossed&#8230;&#8230; literally tossed into the garbage. Take two signs. Discard the cardboard part of the sign (please recycle). Take the U-shaped metal frame and cross-cross two of them over a plant. Slide a pest net bag over the frame. Place a brick or rock on the bottom edge of the netting that touches the ground. It&#8217;s almost instant protection.<\/p><p align=\"Left\"><b>2. The Two-Tiered Greenhouse frame:<\/b><\/p><p align=\"Left\">Many of us have a two-tiered greenhouse, that we put on our deck in early spring for use as a cold frame for our seedlings. After the seedlings are planted, the greenhouse is put away until next spring. \u00a0<\/p><p align=\"Left\">Take the plastic cover off the frame. Now, wrap the frame in a sheet of netting, or simply pull a pest net bag over it. Set the frame over a blueberry bush (or whatever you want to cover). Now, the birds are outside, looking in.<\/p><p align=\"Left\"><b>3. Rebar and Old Tennis Balls<\/b><\/p><p align=\"Left\">Pound 3 &#8211; 4 pieces of rebar into the ground around the plant. Take old tennis balls and cut a small &#8220;X&#8221; into them. Push the tennis ball onto the top of each rebar. It&#8217;s amazing how smoothly a net bag slips on and off!
